| Well here we are with another Christmas message, how the past year has flown. It has been a good year for the us with many exciting things happening. Starting off early in the year with the wedding of Claire and Andrew, the family Rolls Royce was one of the wedding cars, while the guys had the EVO 6 Lancers of John Stilling and the Barretts .
Next we had the Rally of Canberra where Andrew and I would be running the Charade. Started off ok, inside the top 30 on the night stage, but then near the end of stage 2 on Saturday morning a triple roll with pike put to the end our day's rallying. Russ from Carco talked me into trying to fix the car for the Sunday. Well what an 8 hours it was, the guys fixed the car and back into the event we went. Sunday was uneventful with a bit of cautious drive but we finished and gained points.
Did a fair bit of codriving for Graeme Shaw in the tarmac events, including Suncoast Classic at Noosa , Targa West and Mt Buller. Targa West was a great event, the Evo excelled in the wet on the Friday but just didn't have the top end in the dry. Still 15 th outright was a great finish .
Did Bega with Gerald in the Escort, drama filled day with an engine bay fire, a few stages missed then back into it before front suspension dramas, still the guys fixed the car and back out we went again, made it to the end of the last stage but something ahd broken in the rear end so the guys were summonsed with the trailer and off for a beer we went.
Another couple of notable codrives I had during the year were the ride with Nathan ‘ Spac ' Senior in the Volvo 164 at Narooma, this was quite interesting in the extremely wet conditions, we ended up finishing but not before breaking most of the engine mounts and holding the engine in for the last couple of stages with ratchet straps and tree branches. Also had a ride in the mighty Camira of Marty Holberton but with Julie Lucas driving, this was in the Rallye des Femmes earlier in December. We finished a credible 9 th outright and Julie even managed some left foot braking.
Well what will the new year bring? Well we are going to try and have a go at the Land Speed trials on Lake Gairdner , after last year was washed out. This is on between the 3 rd and 7 th of March. Also we are still building the 4 door Charade for Andrew and we will run both cars in the ACT series. Will be doing tarmac events with Graeme in the new EVO 10, while Graeme will be doing ACT series in the EVO 6.5 The American thing may still happen so watch this space. We will also be having another go at ROC and Rally of Melbourne.
.
I would like to thank my whole team and my supporters for a great 2007, Andrew for Codriving and his car building help, Strop for his work on the Charade, Graeme Bray, Shane Tanner and Scott Pigdon for being on Service Crew. Claire at Bold Hair for being a great sponsor, Phil and Sophia at Solartec for all their support, NSW Bearing Supplies for being our major sponsor, Dave and Russ from Carco for all the help with getting the car back together and all their support over the year. I would also like to thank Mum for being a part of our team and being great support for me during the year.
2008 will bring many new things, lets hope for growth within the rally community, let there be peace and harmony throughout the world. I would like to think that we can all make a difference, no matter how small it still matters.
So a fantastic 2007 now onto bigger and better things in 2008.
Merry Christmas and Bright New Year
