| Been a bit slack lately |
Gee it's been busy, plenty of events and heaps of news. So where do I start. Probably with Targa West. Ran in this event with Graeme in the Lancer EVO X, had the clutch weld to the flywheel in the prologue, I had to push to get the car out of the control zone. Ended up with 17th after having more clutch issues on the Zig Zag dropping us to 51st. Off to Oberon after Targa West, the Lancer EVO 6.5 was brought out for this with a steady run ending up with a 4th in class and 15th outright. Was a very good rally with some great roads and plenty of comp km's all in one day. Managed to then fit in some Recce for Classic Adelaide, it was a very busy two days over there, but worked well. Also checked out the pub next door to our accomodation:)
Andrew and I have been working on the Charade, getting it ready for RDF with Kirrilee helping out as well. New gearbx being built and changes with the new turbo being configured with new manifold. Classic Adelaide was an interesting event. Day 1 wasn't good, 43 degree heat, a bad accident with Gary Tierney and David Carra, both didn't survive. This put a dampener on the event, two guys that will be sorely missed by the rally fraternity. Ray and I ended up with a class win in the BMW, but after an unenjoyable event. Graeme had clutch issues which dropped him out of contention and Kirrilee who was running with Laurie Burton only managed 3 stages before the engine let go. Headed up to Wakefield for the 300km Wakefield 300, helping out Shane with the Proton. Shane and Daniel were looking at 7th outright until the left rear folded in with 2 laps to go, they had to settle for 8th, the same as last year. Team effort of 8th and 9th outright with James coming in 9th in the Daewoo. Mt Buller which was last weekend, Graeme and I managed 4th in class, was a good weekend although we suffered from low grip levels. Was unfortunate that Glyn went over the edge in his EVO X, glad that both Glyn and Paul are ok, can't say the same for the car though. Interesting trip home with the turbo on the Transporter giving up about 30km south of Tarcutta. Spent about 6 hours on the side of the Hume until Rick came to help us. While this was all happening, Kirrilee drove the Charade in RDF, was doing ok in the top 3 until the gearbox decided not to play ball, then the halfshaft mount broke. DNF
